North Fork Running Club
Coach: Shawn Fitzgerald

Shawn has been running since he was 6 years old when his father entered him in a 1-mile fun run. Ever since, he's done countless races around the world to include in Panama, Italy, Iraq and Afghanistan. Shawn's running background allowed him success as a kid in various sports by increasing his endurance and has translated nicely with his military career where physical fitness is essential.

Building off of last years camp, Shawn strives to get local North Fork kids out on the track to learn first hand the benefits of running. By starting at a young age, kids are able to develop a level of endurance that translates nicely to any other sport. For the most part, regardless of what sport it is, running is a fundamental aspect. Additionally, running is a great sport and activity on its own that is easily shared with the family.

Shawn continues to race locally and is currently training for the Bridgehampton 1/2 Marathon in May and the Air Force Marathon in September. He is a Level 1 certified coach through the Road Runner's Club of America (RRCA).
